Card game “Kaiser” sparks controversy over trademark infringments

A recent controversy has broken out over a card game and the rights its name.

The card game “Kaiser” has been popular in Saskatchewan for many years. It was turned into computer game in the 1990’s by Kevin Currie, a Saskatoon software developer. Currie later got a trademark for the game.

Around a year ago, Saskatchewan developer Tim Baudais created a Kasier card game app.

Currie asked that the app be removed, saying it infringed on his trademark.

CTV contacted Baudais, who says he is being sued and did not want to talk until the legal issues have been sorted out.
